Every month, border stations coordinate with local authorities and boards of administrators of schools in localities to build a specific plan to effectively carry out the “Lessons on border” model at the border gate and border markers. Each class session is 45 minutes long. Participating students directly observe the sacred border markers and learn about the agreement on border management and land border gate regulations between Vietnam and Laos, as well as the tasks of the border guard force and people in border areas. In addition, students have a chance to experience to be  border guards, perform flag-saluting ceremony, conduct patrols and visit border stations, to name but a few.

Ho Thi Hai, a student from class 4C of Lao Bao Primary School No.1, Lao Bao townlet, Huong Hoa district, shared that this was the first time she had visited barracks and accommodations of border troops and observed border gates and markers. Through the information given by border troops, she and other students have had a better understanding of national border and thoroughly understood the difficulties of the border guard force. They promised to study hard to become good citizens and deserve the silent sacrifices of border troops.

According to Ho Thi Tham, Headmistress of Lao Bao Primary School No.1, the “Lessons on border” model has helped raise teachers and students’ patriotism and their awareness of the tasks and functions of the border guard force, underlining that this is a meaningful and effective model and should be promoted in the time to come.
