Presenting gifts to needy people

Accordingly, a number of activities will be held, including the awarding of scholarships, jackets and notebooks to students; providing free health check-ups and medicines to local people; presenting gifts and upgrading electric systems to policy beneficiaries; and visiting border guard posts.

The program’s VND 420 million was raised by sponsors in Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province.

The Khmer ethnic people account for 15 percent of Bien Gioi’s population and they are still facing some difficulties in daily life. Thus, the “Spring in border areas” is a practical and meaningful gift to poor locals, said Chairman of the commune’s People Committee Nguyen Van Nhung.

* On the same day, medical personnel of the Border Guard Post at the Tien River International Border Gate and other forces provided free health check-ups and medicines to 260 poor people in Vinh Xuong border commune, Tan Xuan town, An Giang province.

Additionally, they helped raise local awareness of ensuring food safety and hygiene, and preventing and controlling infectious diseases which often peak during the flooding season.

This was part of activities in celebration of the coming 63rd anniversary of the Vietnam Doctors’ Day (February 27).
