During the last days of 2023, although it was bitterly cold in the border area of Ha Lang district, troops of the Border Post of Ly Van Border Gate overcame their difficulties, worked around the clock, and conducted patrols along the borderline. Meanwhile, they promoted disseminating information about and encouraging local people to strictly observe the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws, and not to purchase and use different kinds of firecrackers, among others.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Manh, Political Commissar of the border post, the lunar New Year is the peak time for criminals, especially smugglers, to illegally transport goods across the Vietnam-China border in both ways. Therefore, the unit has strictly grasped the directives and orders of higher levels; closely followed local situations; and raised troops’ awareness of the significance of border work and combat readiness posture.

Meanwhile, the unit has kept a weather eye on the situations to detect, prevent, and handle all circumstances, contributing to safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining political security and social order and safety in border areas and the border gate.

Additionally, in order to ensure a joyful, healthy, safe and economical lunar New Year 2024, the unit has drawn up plans for combat readiness maintenance and crime prevention and combat before, during, and after the lunar New Year holiday.

Also, the unit has made thorough preparations to ensure the good spiritual and culture life of troops and ensure logistics supplies for them during the holiday.

The unit will also allow troops to visit their families in a short time before, during, and after the lunar New Year holiday while inquiring after troops with difficult conditions and presenting New Year gifts to troops who are children of wounded soldiers, and martyrs, to name but a few.

The unit has coordinated with local authorities to conduct a number of meaningful activities, particularly the “Heartwarming Border Spring to Villagers” program, as well as teamed up with the Youth Union chapters of the three border communes of Minh Long, Ly Quoc and Dong Loan to carry out activities, including artistic and cultural exchange programs, sports competitions, folk games, for local people, contributing to deepening the military-civilian solidarity and bringing a cozy New Year holiday to the people.
