Earlier, the fishing boat with four men on board was taking on water heavily due to a serious leak and was at risk of sinking while fishing about 50 nautical miles off Southeast coast of Hai Phong city.

After receiving the captain’s distress call, the Vietnam MRCC called upon other fishing boats operating nearby to help the troubled trawler and sent Ship SAR 411 to the rescue, if it had become necessary. On approaching the trawler, the rescue team transferred a high-powered pump to the trawler to reduce the level of flooding so that it could be towed ashore safely on the following day.
