Ship in distress rescued
PANO - Staff of the Cua Dai Border Station in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province, successfully secured and towed a ship ashore on October 5.

Colonel Tran Van Ba, Head of the Cua Dai Border Station said ship QNa 0712, captained by Nguyen Phuc Tan, from Cua Dai ward, Hoi An city, collided with trawler QNa 95539 TS, captained by Tran Cong Hieu, from Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district (Quang Nam), while making its trial run on the morning of October 5. As a result of the serious collision, the ship sank.
As the ship went down, its crew and captain abandoned ship safely.
After receiving the mayday signal, the Cua Dai Border Station sent its troops to try to save the troubled ship, but in the event, they were only able to recover and secure the wreckage of the extensively-damaged ship.
Three hours later, the damaged ship was towed safely ashore.
