Exhibition on AO/dioxin victims held in Kon Tum
PANO - The Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims (VAVA), the Chemical Corps, the Kon Tum provincial People’s Committee, agencies, and military units opened an exhibition, themed “Agent Orange (AO) – Conscience and Justice,” on July 20 at Kon Tum province’s Museum.
The one-month long exhibition is part of the activities to mark the 61st anniversary of the AO disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 – 2022) and the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022).
Around 400 photos, documents, and items are divided into different themes, including “AO disaster, pain of AO victims,” “Vietnam overcoming consequences of chemical war,” “VAVA’s activities and journey to seek justice for AO victims,” and “Golden hearts for AO/dioxin victims,” among others.
Through the exhibition, the organizing panel expects to help Vietnamese people and troops, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends learn more about harmful effects of toxic chemicals to the environment and people’s health; the efforts of the Party, State, military and VAVA, ministries, agencies, organizations, and the whole community as well as the assistance of international friends in settling post-war toxic chemicals' consequences and taking care of AO/dioxin victims; efforts of AO/dioxin victims in integrating into the community.
The event also aims to call on the Vietnamese from all walks of life and international friends to contribute to easing the pain of AO/dioxin victims, unite to prevent proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and support the fight to seek justice for Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims.

At the opening ceremony, VAVA’s President Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh thanked agencies, organizations, and individuals for cooperating in organizing the exhibition, presented gratitude houses and gifts to AO/dioxin victims, and hand over donation to Kon Tum province’s Fund for AO/dioxin Victims.
