Distressed trawler saved at sea
PANO – Ship 6001 of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command successfully towed distressed trawler KH 94888TS ashore on March 28.
Earlier, at 11:00 on March 27, the command received information from the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 that trawler KH 94888TS, captained by Nguyen Nhat Thanh (from Thuy Dam village, Ninh Thuy commune, Ninh Hoa district, Khanh Hoa province) with 10 crew-members aboard, went adrift 22 nautical miles northwest of Tri Ton Island due to engine failure. All crew-members were tired and one of them had a stomachache.
After receiving the information, the unit sent Coast Guard Ship 6001 in action near Ly Son Island to the rescue. After six hours searching for the troubled trawler in a bad weather condition, at 18:00 the same day, the ship approached and towed the distressed trawler with all crew-members ashore.
