Distressed fishermen saved at sea
PANO – Ship 219 of Naval Region 2 successfully saved four fishermen in distress at sea on April 11.
Previously, the naval ship received a mayday call from fishing trawler BV 4977 TS when patrolling the fishing grounds near the maritime border between Vietnam and Indonesia. The trawler was captained by Do Tan Toan from Phuoc Tinh commune, Long Dien district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
Accordingly, four crew-members of the trawler were severely injured on their hands, arms, and bellies due to an accident when retrieving their fishing nets.
The naval ship's medical team immediately provided first aid for the victims to stop their bleeding, disinfect their wounds, suture and bandage open wounds, and inject painkillers.
After receiving emergency treatment, the patients were well enough to return to their trawler for additional care.
