Distressed fishermen return to locality
PANO – Ship KN 420 of Fisheries Resources Surveillance Group No4 on September 8 handed over 41 fishermen of troubled boat QNa 91928 TS to the authorities of Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province.
Present at the event were Nguyen Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Nui Thanh district People’s Committee, Tran Quang Kien, Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Fisheries Association, relevant agencies and the fishermen’s families.

Previously, on September 2, 2019, trawler QNa 91928 TS with 44 men on board capsized due to high waves and strong winds when fishing at sea about 35 nautical miles off the East of Thuyen Chai Island of Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago. 41 distressed fishermen were then rescued by boat QNg 90817 TS operating nearby but other three went missing.
After receiving the information, Fisheries Resources Surveillance Group No4 dispatched Ship KN 420 for search and rescue. At 17:30 the same day, Ship KN 420 rescued 41 fishermen from fishing boat QNg 90817 TS and its doctors provided health checkups and accommodation for the distressed fishermen. The fishermen were taken to Thuyen Chai Island for several days before returning to the mainland on September 5.
The QNa 91928 TS squid fishing boat was owned by Bui Van Quoc and captained by Tran Tan Vinh from Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province. The three missing fishermen are Nguyen Tan Van, Le Van Phuong, and Tran Van Cam from Tam Thanh commune, Nui Thanh district.
