Deputy Defense Minister pays tribute to fallen soldiers
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Defense Minister, offered incense and flowers to fallen soldiers resting in peace in Binh Phuoc Provincial War Cemetery on July 17.
General Chiem’s activity was part of his working visit to units in the South and in the buildup to the 72nd anniversary of the Vietnamese Wounded Soldiers’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

On this occasion, General Chiem also met with and encouraged troops of Search Team K72 of the provincial military command, which is in charge of searching and collecting remains of fallen soldiers.
Over the past time, under the direction of Military Region 7 and the Binh Phuoc provincial Military Command and with high sense of responsibility and sentiments, Search Team K72 have exerted all-out efforts and overcome all difficulties to search, collect and repatriate remains of Vietnamese volunteer troops who had sacrificed their lives while serving international duty in Cambodia.
In the 2018-2019 dry season, the team found and repatriated 23 sets of remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers. The team’s great efforts and good results have brightened the Vietnamese tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source.”
On the occasion, General Chiem presented gifts to troops of Search Team K72.
