Coast guards support fishermen in Phu Cat
PANO - The “Coast guards stand by fishermen” program has been implemented in Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province.
The program was jointly held by the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the Mass Mobilization Board of the Binh Dinh provincial Party Committee and Phu Cat district’s People’s Committee.

During the program, the working mission carried out dissemination activities on national sea and islands, the prevention of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing among troops and local residents.
Meanwhile, the delegation provided free health check-ups and medicines for people in the locality and organized the “I love national sea and islands” contest at Cat Chanh Secondary School.
On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presented 100 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, to policy families and needy households, gave 30 bicycles and granted 60 scholarships to disadvantaged students from the secondary schools of Cat Chanh, Cat Thanh and Cat Minh.
Also, the command handed over 2,000 national flags to fishermen and offered free medical examinations and medicines to hundreds of fishermen in the locality.
Stressing the practical, significant meaning of the program, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ngan, Secretary of Cat Thanh commune’s Party Committee deeply thanked officers and soldiers of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command for their support, affirming that the program helped local people soon stabilize their life and encouraged local students to strive in their study.
