On the occasion, the delegation offered flowers and incense at a martyrs’ cemetery in Binh Dai district, and visited and presented gifts to two policy households in the district; disseminated information about the Vietnam Coast Guard, and measures to counter illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The contest attracts the participation of many students

Besides, they also worked with the regional Search and Rescue Center 3 to equip local fishermen with search and rescue regulations; and offered 150 gifts, worth VND 1 million each, and 128 life jackets to them.

In the framework of the program, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command also coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City-based Hung Vuong Hospital to provide free health check-ups and medicines to 300 needy and policy people. In addition, a contest themed “I love my national sea and islands” was also held, drawing the participation of 100 students from 16 secondary schools in Binh Dai district.

Disseminating laws to fishermen

Moreover, enterprises and individuals handed over 10 bicycles, 100 scholarships, worth VND 500,000 each to needy students. Meanwhile, Nguoi Lao Dong (Labor) Newspaper also presented VND 20 million to the students, and granted 2,000 national flags to fishermen.

The program aimed to show the care of the coast guard force in general and Coast Guard Region 3 in particular towards policy people and ethnic minority groups, as well as needy students, contributing to promoting military-civilian ties.

* On the same day, at Thuan An Secondary School, Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province, a similar program with the theme “I love my national sea and islands” was co-held by Coast Guard Region 2 and Military Hospital 268, attracting the participation of 60 outstanding students from local primary and secondary schools.

Presenting scholarships to needy students

Addressing the event, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command Senior Colonel Tran Hong Que underscored that this was an occasion to disseminate information about the Party and State’s viewpoints and guidelines, and laws on national sea and islands, as well as the traditions of the Vietnam Coast Guard, and of Thua Thien Hue province.
