Coast guards promote support for fishermen
PANO - The Command of Coast Guard Region 3 in association with local authorities launched a program themed "Coast guards stand by fishermen" on March 30-31 in Phu Quy island district of Binh Thuan province.
The program includes consecutive activities including a twinning agreement between Flotilla 301 and Tam Thanh commune's authorities, a competition themed "I love national seas and islands", gift offering to Vietnamese heroic mothers, and a scholarship handover ceremony for needy children, among others.

Over the past year, Coast Guard Region 3 well implemented the mass mobilization work, organizing 100 meetings to popularize information and knowledge relating to national seas and islands to over 1 million people, sending 825 troops to localities to help develop local economy and build a cultural lifestyle in residential areas, raising hundreds of millions of VND for local gratitude funds, as well as sharing experiences in working at high sea and training basic skills of search and rescue for over 1,000 fishermen, to name just a few.
Similar programs will also be held in Coast Guard Regions 1, 2 and 4 in the coming time.
