The coast guard force provided local fishermen with regulations on the prevention and combat of illegal, unreported and regulated (IUU) fishing.

The event aimed to raise fishermen and ship owners’ awareness of observing laws and regulations while fishing at sea, contributing to the efforts to remove the yellow card imposed by the European Commission (E.C.) on Vietnamese seafood and sustainable fishery development.

After the dissemination event, ship owners signed a commitment document to comply with the regulations while fishing at sea, especially not infringing on foreign waters.

On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 4 distributed more than 600 leaflets to fishing boats and presented 600 national flags and 170 gifts to needy fishermen in Kien Giang and Ca Mau provinces.

The People’s Army Newspaper would like to introduce some photos of the dissemination event.
