National flags presented to the fishermen

At the event, Second-in-Command of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command Senior Colonel Pham Tien Dang and leaders of the provincial Party Committee’s the Mass Mobilization Commission and the Lao Dong Newspaper handed over 20 gift packages, worth VND 1 million each, and national flags to needy fishermen in the locality.

Participating units’ leaders visited and presented gift to fisherman Nguyen Van Nganh and changed the national flag on his trawler. Talking about the deed, fisherman Nguyen Van Nganh, who is the owner of trawler BD 91453, said that thanks to the support of coast guard force, he always feels secured when fishing at sea. The fisherman added that the national flag presented by the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the Lao Dong Newspaper will fly at sea, affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.

According to Senior Colonel Pham Tien Dang, the coast guard force’s “Coast guards stand by fishermen” and the Lao Dong Newspaper’s “1 million national flags for fishermen to head to the sea” program features various activities, including dissemination of the Party’s guideline and State’s policies and law to local people and building safe locality and firm political system.

He added that the participants will help locals develop socio-economy, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty. They will also support fishermen to fish at sea and develop sea economy, thus contributing to firmly safeguarding sovereignty, security, and safety of national sea and islands.
