The Hung Kings Temple is located at the intersection of Vo Van Kiet and Dang Van Day streets in Binh Thuy ward. Covering an area of approximately 3.9 hectares, the complex includes the worshiping area, a ceremonial gate, administrative and service buildings, a stele house, internal roads and courtyards, landscaped greenery, and a regulating lake.
The main gate draws inspiration from the decorative motifs of stilt houses with boat-shaped roofs depicted on Dong Son bronze drums. Clad in blue stone from Thanh Hoa province, the gate features one central entrance and two side entrances. The complex resembles a small island set within the tranquil surroundings of the regulating lake. The temple’s circular form, resting on a solid square base, creates a harmonious balance between strength and elegance. The overall layout is stylized in the shape of Vietnam’s map, with two water features symbolizing the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos as inseparable parts of Vietnam’s sovereignty.
The focal point of the complex is the worshiping area, which stands 19.5 meters high and covers nearly 1,300 square meters. Circular in shape and built on a square foundation, it symbolizes the harmony between heaven and earth. Surrounding the worshiping area are 54 cylindrical pillars arranged in a circle within the regulating lake, representing the community of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. Eighteen arched segments encircle the worshiping area, symbolizing the 18 generations of Hung Kings, each decorated with motifs inspired by Dong Son bronze drums.

Inside the temple, decorative patterns from the Ngoc Lu bronze drum are used throughout the worship and display spaces. At the center of the worshiping area is the altar of the National Ancestor Hung King, flanked by the altars of Lac Long Quan and Au Co, with additional altars dedicated to Lac Hau and Lac Tuong. The worshiping area has two levels, with the upper level serving as the worship space and the lower level displaying artifacts related to the Hung Kings era and the Hung Kings worship belief in Can Tho city and the Mekong Delta.
