Khanh Hoi Border Post immediately used Icom radio communication equipment to contact three trawlers, namely KG 91714 TS; KG 94731TS, and CM 99102 TS, which were operating nearby and asked them to reach the scene as soon as possible. The unit also formed a ten-member mission and mobilized two other fishing boats with six local fishermen to conduct the search and rescue.

At 8p.m., trawler CM 99102TS of Mr. Phan Van Khanh (from hamlet 3, Khanh Hoi commune, U Minh district) found a fisherman alive and brought him to the boat safely. By 9:45p.m., the rescue force saved the rest 14 fishermen and took them to trawler KG 91714 TS. The fishermen were then taken to Kinh Hoi Border Checkpoint for healthcare.
