Border post rescues 15 fishermen
PANO - Khanh Hoi Border Post of the Ca Mau provincial Border Guard Command mobilized forces and vehicles to rescue 15 troubled fishermen at sea, said Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thanh Van, the border post’s head, on October 3.
Earlier on October 2, the border post was reported that trawler KG-90255-TS with 15 fishermen on board had sunk due to strong winds and high waves while fishing at sea. All fishermen then grabbed and held on to fishing net buoys and waited for rescue force. One of them had leg injury.

Khanh Hoi Border Post immediately used Icom radio communication equipment to contact three trawlers, namely KG 91714 TS; KG 94731TS, and CM 99102 TS, which were operating nearby and asked them to reach the scene as soon as possible. The unit also formed a ten-member mission and mobilized two other fishing boats with six local fishermen to conduct the search and rescue.
At 8p.m., trawler CM 99102TS of Mr. Phan Van Khanh (from hamlet 3, Khanh Hoi commune, U Minh district) found a fisherman alive and brought him to the boat safely. By 9:45p.m., the rescue force saved the rest 14 fishermen and took them to trawler KG 91714 TS. The fishermen were then taken to Kinh Hoi Border Checkpoint for healthcare.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thanh Van added that military medical staff immediately provided first aid and bandaged the wound for the injured fisherman.
According to him, the unit cooperated with the trawler’s owner to complete all essential procedures and hand over all the fishermen to their families.
The loss is estimated at VND 800 million.
