Border guard troops rescue sinking trawler
PANO – Hon Son Border Post under the Kien Giang provincial Border Guard Command sent its personnel to assist local fishermen in towing a sinking trawler ashore on November 2.

Earlier, trawler KG 20681 TS, owned by Pham Thanh Hai from Bai Nha A hamlet of Kien Hai district’s Lai Son commune had its mooring rope broken when anchoring in the waters of Bai Nha hamlet. The trawler then hit a rock and sunk.
After being reported on the case, Major Nguyen Chi Linh, Commanding Officer of Hon Son Border Post, mobilized 18 troops to help locals tow the trawler ashore.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions and rough sea, the troops of the border post and local fishermen managed to rescue the sinking trawler and taking it ashore safely.
The damage was estimated at VND 120 million. Fortunately, no human losses were reported.
