In his speech, Col. Dac stressed that Uncle Ho’s soldiers is the lovely name that Vietnamese people use to call officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army. Uncle Ho’s soldiers have good qualities in terms of morality and culture of Vietnamese people in the new era. Therefore, the title Uncle Ho’s soldiers is a unique military cultural feature that helps enrich the cultural values of the nation over the past eight decades, deserving to be nominated as a national intangible cultural heritage.

The officer highlighted the column named Forum on “Uncle Ho’s soldiers title - Deserving to be national intangible cultural heritage” opened by the PAN since July this year.

According to him the forum has attracted dozens of articles by experts, scientists, generals, reputable artists, helping readers have a comprehensive view on the good traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army, typical characteristics of the virtue and personality of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

During the workshop, participants clarified basic qualities that make the values of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, the meaning of the title in honing the revolutionary servicemen’s virtues and in performing political tasks of units; positive impacts of the title on preserving and promoting Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ traditions and qualities in Division 316; positive values of the title and the possibility of submitting a dossier to higher levels for recognition of this noble title as an element of national intangible cultural heritage.

At the event Senior Captain Do Khac Trinh, Head of Battalion 9, Regiment 98 talked about his unit’s realization of Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ qualities in task performance, the “Seven Dares” spirit urged by late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, enhancement of military and civilian ties, and active engagement in disaster prevention and search and rescue operations, including the recent post-Typhoon Yagi relief efforts in Lao Cai province.

Other troops recalled their mass mobilization task implementation that has helped strengthen the relations between troops and people and their determination to accomplish all assignments.

The three-hour seminar gave participants a deep and comprehensive view on the significance and value of the “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” title as well as activities of Division 316’s troops in promoting the title and spreading the heroic unit’s good traditions.

The workshop’s results and opinions collected would be a good foundation for the suggestion to recognize the title as an element of national intangible cultural heritage.
