PANO – Over the last few days, various activities have been organised in celebration of the 71st founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).

On December 20th, more than 2,000 athletes from the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, the Naval Region 2 Command, the Police Department, the City's Border Guard Command, and schools in the city took part in a run for the celebration and 18 groups and 60 individuals with good performances were awarded.

Earlier on December 19th,  a working delegation from Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee visited southern army units, including Air Defence Brigade 77 of Military Zone 7, Military Hospital 175, and Military Technical Officer Training School.

During the visit, the head delegate Than Thi Thu praised these units’ achievements that contributed to the socio-economic development and defence-security of the city. She hoped that in the coming time, the units would further promote the military-civilian relationship and work closely with local party committees and authorities to carry out the Resolution of the city’s 10th Party Congress.

The same day, more than 300 war veterans of the liaison board of B2 regional military supplies met to mark its traditional day. The delegates recalled the glorious tradition of the army in general and the sector in particular. In wartime, they worked hard to ensure logistics for battlefields and at present, they help each other to overcome difficulties.

737 retired senior officers of Military Zone (MZ) 3 met in Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, and Thai Binh provinces. At the meeting, the MZ’s representatives expressed deep gratitude to their contributions to the country and wished them good health. The participants were also briefed on national, regional, and international situations as well as activities of the army over the past time. They were asked to heighten the virtues of Uncle Ho’s soldiers to continue contributing to the development of their hometowns.

Military Zone 1 Command has recently handed over a cultural house to people in Trung Son hamlet, Quang Son commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province. The project was constructed at a cost of VND 1 billion from the military zone, Thai Nguyen provincial Military Command, and Engineering Brigade 575. The house is fully equipped with acoustic systems and chairs.

Doctors and nurses from the Department of Logistics of the General Department of Logistics have provided free health check-ups, counseling, and medicines to those who had rendered good service to the nation and elderly people. The delegation also presented gifts to needy students with good academic results and revolutionary contributors. These activities are to promote army-civilian relations.
