Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs, attended and chaired the conference.

Delivering a report at the event, Major General Dang Hong Trien, General Director and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, affirmed that the center’s Party Committee has directed affiliated units to effectively implement Resolution No.791-NQ/QUTW. As a result, the awareness and responsibilities of the center’s personnel on the issues have been increasingly improved and the center’s scientific researches have contributed significantly to the military building, the national defense reinforcement and the socio-economic development.

The center has actively and effectively joined the national target program to respond to climate change, announced new species and suggested localities appropriate measures to manage, preserve and sustainably use biological resources. In addition, the center has participated in overcoming the aftermaths of war-left toxic chemicals in the most severe dioxin-polluted areas of Vietnam, joining COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, and more.

In the 2013-2021 period, the center had nearly 200 articles published in prestigious scientific journals in the world; released nearly 40 publications in three languages (English, Russian, and Vietnamese); and received two utility solutions patents from the National Office of Intellectual Property.

Addressing the conference, Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet emphasized the special important role of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center and praised its outstanding results and achievements over the past 10 years. He urged the center’s Party Committee to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement directives and resolutions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense and relevant agencies on developing science, technology and environment. He noted that the center should strengthen the leadership of the Party committees and commanders at all levels on scientific research tasks, synchronously deploy solutions to improve the personnel capabilities and propose research cooperation activities.

Also, the center's Party Committee needs to lead and direct agencies and units to closely combine basic researches with applied ones, transfer technologies to serve military-defense tasks, enhance cooperation in scientific researches both domestically and internationally, especially with the Russian Federation, he noted.

Additionally, the center should focus on building strong Party organizations in terms of politics, ideology, morality, and structure; promoting solidarity and unity among its personnel; and be active and creative to complete all assigned tasks.

At the conference, leaders of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center awarded certificates of merit to seven collectives and 16 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of Resolution No.791-NQ/QUTW.
