The event was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Aleksey Mikhailovich Medvedev, who are heads of the Vietnamese and Russian sub-committees.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed that despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19, the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center has well maintained scientific research activities. The center has conducted dozens of research projects and SARS-CoV-2 testing in laboratory containers and labs.

As of December 2021, the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center tested 137,000 samples for more than 673,000 people, contributing to the country’s pandemic prevention and control efforts.

At the event, delegates also approved the center’s scientific research plan in 2022 and asked the unit to promote coordination in technology transfer and application of research outcomes to reality and effectively carry out developed programs.

The two sides also agreed on the agenda of the 33rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee for the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center and signed the minutes of the 32nd meeting.
