Vietnam Coast Guard inspects IUU fighting in Southwestern sea and islands
PANO - On January 15, as part of the peak inspection program against Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) activities, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command organized a conference to assign tasks to the forces participating in the program.
Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, led the working delegation. The delegation included officers and soldiers from the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Coast Guard Region 3 Command, Coast Guard Region 4 Command, the fisheries surveillance force, local leaders, and journalists.
During the trip from January 16 to 20, the working delegation will directly inspect the IUU fighting efforts of units performing duties in the Vietnam-Malaysia-Thailand overlapping waters. The delegation will also check the combat readiness and preparations for the lunar New Year (Tet) 2024 in coast guard units. Additionally, they will visit and present gifts to local authorities, armed forces, and fishermen on the islands of Con Dao, Tho Chu, and Phu Quoc.
Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai requested all members of the delegation to be well-informed about the schedule and strictly adhere to the regulations on board. He emphasized the need for the personnel on Ship CSB 8001 to maintain strict duty throughout the trip and ensure the safety of the working delegation.
