* To cope with Storm Vamco, the 13th that hit Vietnam this year, the Military Region 4 Command requested its affiliated units to cooperate with local functional forces to double check, call and inform ships and boats of the developments and movements of the storm so that they could take shelter in a timely manner. Military Region 4’s affiliates teamed with other forces to evacuate people living in areas with high risks of landslides and flash floods to safe places. They also prepared personnel and vehicles for rescue missions if needed.
* In Ha Tinh province, all 3,957 ships and boats with 14,932 people have taken refuge while the provincial armed forces have reinforced their barracks and local people’s houses. They also gave recommendations to local authorities to devise plans to evacuate locals in flood-prone areas to safe areas. At present, all provincial armed forces are ready to undertake search and rescue missions. The province is also prohibiting the operation of boats and ships at sea starting at 17:00 on November 13.
* In Quang Binh province, all 6,564 local trawlers and 147 trawlers from other provinces are anchoring at wharfs.
The provincial armed forces and local authorities evacuated all households in places with risks of flooding, landslides and flash floods to safe locations. They also ensured food, medicines, fuel, medical equipment, and other vehicles for search and rescue tasks.

According to a report by the municipal steering committee for disaster prevention and control and search and rescue, by 14:30 on November 14, more than 21,000 households with over 98,000 people were evacuated to safe areas while nearly 1,600 boats and ships took shelter at Tho Quang lock.
