PANO – The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army held a ceremony in Hanoi on March 23rd to honor 10 young soldiers in the army with outstanding achievements in 2015 in their fields.

PANO would like to introduce the list:

Lieutenant Doan Quoc Ha

In the posts of Deputy Commissar and Youth Union Branch of Company 41, Battalion 12, the Army Officers Training School No.1, Ha demonstrated the leading role of a cadre of the youth union in mobilizing all individuals to perform tasks and partake in movements, contributing to the mission fulfillment of the unit.

Over the past time, he has held various studying models, information disseminations and art activities to encourage soldiers’ studiousness and responsibilities for raising training and combat readiness quality.

In addition, the officer grasped and understood the political thoughts of soldiers who have just graduated from high schools and joined the army.

Thanks to his contributions, Company 41 successfully completed tasks last year. Notably, Ha was conferred with the Emulation Soldier title at the grassroots level and a merit certificate by the General Department of Politics.

Lieutenant Cu A Sua

Since taking on tasks at the Hua Bum Border Post in Hua Bum commune, Nam Nhun district, Lai Chau province, Lieutenant Cu A Sua (H’mong ethnic minority group), Head of the post’s Mass Mobilization Team, has made contributions to lifting the living standards of border people.

Accordingly, Sua actively worked with local authorities to mobilize H’mong people to strictly follow the Party and State’s guidelines and laws.

He and his comrades also instructed the needy in border areas to effectively raise cows under the program “Breeding cows help the poor in border areas”, initiated by the military-run telecom group Viettel.

In 2013, Lieutenant Cu A Sua made recommendations to the post’s leaders to experiment with and cultivate a new rice variety with high productivity, helping locals overcome difficulties in the between-crop periods.

Additionally, he also helped the local authorities strengthen the Party organization.

Non-commissioned Lieutenant Le Thi Ngoc Quyen

Following the footsteps of her father Le Cong Thien, who is an instrumentalist, Quyen has been fond of singing since her childhood.

She pocketed an array of medals and certificates in singing contests before being recruited as a “cai luong” (reformed theatre) artist of the Military Zone 9’s Art Troupe in 2008.

Thanks to her efforts and the support, encouragement from the troupe and her comrades, Quyen continued developing her aptitude for the Vietnamese folk music genre and clinched many high prizes in her field.

Captain Tran Van Dong

As an assistant for youth work in the Department of Politics under the Military Zone 5 Command, Dong is considered an advocator for Youth Union activities.

He made efforts to study and suggest higher levels to issue youth campaigns suitable to the zone’s reality, such as “Youths in the army joining hands to build new-styled rural areas” and “Military Zone 5’s youths reach high peaks.”

Moreover, he actively participated in anniversaries celebrating the country’s major event hosted by the command. Especially, Dong did the voice-over for the parade in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2nd) in 2015.

At a grassroots level, Dong claimed many prizes in young orator festivals. Last year, he was also presented with the Emulation Soldier title at the grassroots level and a merit certificate by the Ministry of National Defense.

Captain Nguyen Huu Tuan

As the Deputy CEO and Site Foreman of the Construction Investment and Trade Company under the Dong Bac Corporation of the Ministry of National Defense, Tuan always shows his devotion to his duty and puts forward many great ideas to improve the style of work and promote internal solidarity.

In spite of current difficulties, he has led the company’s staff and workers to complete construction of many projects in islands as scheduled, making contributions to the development of the company in general.

Senior Lieutenant Tran Thanh Luan

The pilot in Fleet 1, Regiment 935, Division 370 of the Air Defense and Air Force Service shared that all pilots, inside and outside the army, always want to do their utmost to firmly protect national sovereignty over airspace. It is the sacred responsibility and also motivation for them to continue heightening their expertise.

To date, Luan has nearly 500 safe flying hours on various aircraft, including the Su-30MK2 fighter jet.

He has been honored as one of the Vietnam's 10 Outstanding Young Faces in 2015.

Captain Bui Viet Hoang Son

As an assistant in the Software and Database Office under the Information and Technology Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Son is the author of many projects, especially the “Building A Social Network for Youths in the Army”, which won him the first prize at the Military Creative Youth Awards in 2014.

This project includes many military technologies to offer training programs and other convenient contents to different users, paving the way for setting up a kind of internet for the army only.

Moreover, he headed other projects to build portals for army units, helping boost the IT application in the Ministry of National Defense.

Captain Dang Thi Bich Trang

Before working in the People’s Army Newspaper, Trang had suffered a tragedy. On June 9th 2009, her husband, pilot Tran Thanh Nghi lost his life in an accident while participating in a training session in Thanh Hoa province.

In this situation, Trang overcame difficulties to continue her life and raise their children.

Being recruited as a reporter in the newspaper’s “Su kien va Nhan chung” (Events and Witnesses) Monthly Magazine, Trang actively learned a lot from her colleagues and had many good articles.

In three consecutive years since 2012, she won the Emulation Soldier title at the grassroots level. Additionally, the female officer was granted other certificates from the General Department of Politics and the newspaper.

Lieutenant Dang Thai Tra

Born in Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province, Tra dreamt of being a doctor to save patients when she witnessed her teacher was in pain because of leukemia.

Her dream came true as she entered the Military Medical Academy under the Ministry of National Defense. During the full-time course (2010-2015), Tra always gained outstanding records and was presented with Vallet scholarships twice.

Especially, Tra participated in two scientific researches. One of them won the third prize at the National Medical Awards in 2014.

In addition, she actively joined Youth Union activities and also received several certificates from the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s Central Committee and the General Department of Politics.

She shared that in any task or movement, she tried her best to fulfill the requirements. These achievements will help Tra better care for the health of her comrades and people.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Mai Phuong

At present, Phuong is Head of Construction Section in the Staff of Brigade 72, the Engineering Arm. He is well known as an example with initiative.

Many of Phuong’s initiatives have been effectively put into practice, making contributions to reducing manpower while promoting the quality of the unit’s task performance.

Furthermore, he actively participated in youth union activities and social welfare programs.

For these results, Phuong received the Emulation Soldier title at the grassroots level in four consecutive years from 2011. Last year, he was honored with the Emulation Soldier title at the Defense Ministry level, and conferred with a merit certificate by the Defense Minister.
