During the period, military units strictly implemented resolutions of the Central Military Commission, instructions on military-defence missions of the General Staff and guidance documents of relevant agencies concerning search and rescue missions. Accordingly, units actively conducted training, both in theory and practice. Especially, units also successfully implemented new-style rescue exercises, and training was in line with real situations faced by the units. The whole army conducted 176 search and rescue training courses in response to air and maritime accidents, oil spills, fire-fighting, chemical accidents, and more.
The training has helped gradually improve the quality in all aspects of the units, meeting the requirements of natural disaster relief, contributing to mitigating loss of life and property for the people and State.
Outstanding units in performing the search and rescue mission over the past 5 years were Military Zones 4, 7, 9, the National Center for Search and Rescue Training under the Navy, and the Center for Oil Spills Response in the Central Region of the General Department of Defence Industry.
* As for Military Zone 4, the zone’s Party Committee and Command on July 15th also held a conference reviewing the implementation of military-defence missions in the first half of the year. The conference pointed out that the military zone excellently performed the task of search and rescue, mobilizing 2,079 troops and 113 vehicles of all kinds in forest fire-fighting, natural disaster relief and search and rescue operations.
