New Year visits paid to military units
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Deputy Defense Minister, on January 30 visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) wishes and presented gifts to troops of Regiment 246 of Division 346, Military Region 1.
During the visit, General Truong informed the unit about achievements recorded by military units in 2017, especially in staff work, and about 2018 key tasks.
Acknowledging the unit’s recorded results last year, the senior officer extended Lunar New Year wishes to troops and their families and asked the unit’s Party Committee and Chain-of-command to make full preparations to ensure a happy, healthy, safe and economical Tet for troops. He requested the unit to maintain strict combat readiness, promote inspection to ensure absolute safety for repositories and barracks and prepare to receive new enlisted youths.
During the visit to Brigade 962 of Military Region 9, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, praised the unit for its recorded achievements in training, combat readiness, natural disaster mitigation and search and rescue. He requested the brigade to embrace and implement the instructions and plans on combat readiness of the Ministry of National Defense, make good preparations to train new enlistees, conduct fully all social activities and ensure both material and spiritual life for troops.

The same day, Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, visited and presented Tet gifts to troops of Lang Son provincial Military and Border Guard Commands and Chi Ma Border Post in Loc Binh district, Lang Son province.
Lauding the units for their achievements, General Can asked them to embrace instructions and resolutions of higher levels and carry out effectively assigned missions with the focus on political and ideological education for troops. They were urged to strictly observe discipline, maintain combat readiness and pay attention to troops’ material and spiritual life to ensure they have a happy, safe and economical Tet.
