 At the inspecting session

On behalf of  MR9’s chain-of-command, Major General Huynh Chien Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, the MR’s Commissar, briefed the delegation on the implementation of  Plan No. 9799/KH-BQP dated October 7, 2016 on organizing activities to mark the 70th Martyrs’ and Wounded Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947-2017).

Over the past time, the MR built 34 gratitude houses (worth VND 70 million each), 236 comrade houses (worth VND 50 million each), for policy beneficiaries and needy local households. In addition, affiliated units under MR9 took care of 423 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, presented some 28,900 gifts (totally cost VND 15 billion) and VND 200 million to policy beneficiaries and needy households in the locality. Accordingly, the MR offered VND 1,3 trillion to 340,000 policy beneficiaries , contributing to implementing  Decisions No. 290, 142 and 62 of the Prime Minister  for policy beneficiaries.

Last year, the MR collected 252 sets of martyrs’ remains. In addition, it ensured policies for those working as conscripted laborers in the front during the war.

Addressing the event, General Chiem hailed the unit’s great efforts over the past time. He also asked them to continue disseminating information and highlighting the significance of the Martyrs’ and Wounded Soldiers’ Day, with a focus on young generation. In addition, the MR should propose measures to promote and improve the efficiency of search and repatriation for remains of martyrs; launch an emulation drive to beautify the Vietnamese tradition: “When drinking water, remember its source”; and develop outstanding examples on gratitude-related activities, and more.

On the sidelines of the event, General Chiem and the delegation paid tribute to local martyrs and offered incense in a martyrs’ cemetery in Can Tho City.
