* The Border Guard Command held a ceremony to kick-start its tree planting festival on February 3 at Integrated Technical Depot 102 in the present of Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President and Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, Border Guard Commander, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien.

Speaking at the event, Vice State President Thinh highly valued tree planting activities of the border guards and affirmed that the activities have contributed to protecting the environment, beautifying natural surroundings and units’ barracks, and to their core task of managing and protecting the national sovereignty in border areas.
After the launching ceremony, the depot planted more than 1,200 trees. As planned, 150,000 fruit trees will be planted in border areas and islands.
* On February 3rd, the Bac Kan provincial Military Command planted 2,000 trees. The command regularly takes care of 2,500 trees in the unit’s barracks. Other units stationed in the province also responded to the movement.
* The same day, the Engineer Corps planted 51,000 trees including 300 flower plants, nearly 800 fruit trees, more than 50,000 shade trees.
* On February 2, military units of Military Region 1 responded to the tree planting festival, and planted more than 131,900 trees of all kinds to beautify their barracks.
