MND convenes conference on leadership work in December
PANO - Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang chaired the conference of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on leadership work in December on December 2 in Hanoi.
At the event, delegates gave opinion about the work agenda of the MND's leadership in December, preparations for the review of Resolution 18-NQ/TW (dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th Party Central Committee) concerning the streamlining of the organizational structure of the political system to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency, and anti-wastefulness measures within the military.

The MND assigned Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia to join the Editorial Team of the Central Steering Committee. The General Staff was tasked with coordinating with the General Department of Political Affairs to direct the review of Resolution 18-NQ/TW and draft the Central Military Commission's report for submission to the Central Steering Committee as planned.
In his concluding remarks, Gen. Giang emphasized that December 2024 is a particularly significant month with numerous important tasks within the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - 2024), the 35th anniversary of Whole People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 - 2024), and the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the General Department of Political Affairs (December 22, 1944 - 2024).
He urged the MND’s leadership to focus on leading and directing all officers and soldiers in the whole military, particularly in strategic agencies, to demonstrate the highest level of responsibility and strive to accomplish their December tasks successfully. Key activities in the month include commemorative programs, the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, the National Politico-Military Conference.
Regarding the review of Resolution 18-NQ/TW, the Defense Minister requested the General Staff and the General Department of Political Affairs to direct agencies to review and propose appropriate measures.
Regarding the anti-wastefulness efforts in the military, Gen. Giang directed the ministry's Steering Committee 1389 to propose measures to the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission and the Central Military Commission to enhance the quality and effectiveness of anti-wastefulness initiatives in the military.
