At the event, Lt. Gen. Ho Quang Tuan, GDI Director reported that last year, the whole agency stayed united, promoted renovation, exerted all-out efforts to complete all working aspects. Attentively, some tasks were fulfilled with higher results than the previous year.

In addition, the GDI pro-actively researched, evaluated, made forecasts of situations, gave recommendations to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on state management over defense industry. Notably, in the year, the file on the draft law on defense, security industries, industry mobilization was approved with high consensus.
It mobilized resources, invested more in infrastructure, technology line, and improved defense manufacturing capacity. Its production and business results exceeded those in 2022, particularly the total revenue reached 105 percent compared with that of the previous year.
In his concluding speech, General Phan Van Giang praised the GDI for its comprehensive task fulfillment, helping raise its capacity and prestige.
Given that the regional and international situations are still developing complicatedly, directly impacting military and defense fields, the defense chief asked the agency to concentrate on developing the defense industry in the direction of self-reliance, dual-use, and modernity.
He requested it to keep a close watch on situations, military conflicts in the world to give advice to the MND leadership on weapons and equipment and make proposals on defense industry cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.
The GDI should also promote research and manufacturing of new weapons, improve quality and efficiency of all-level scientific and technological research topics and tasks; enhance external affairs and international cooperation in defense industry; as well as build comprehensively-strong, exemplary and typical general department and a strong and healthy party committee and organization.
