PANO – During the rainy season, poor peasants working in fields in southern provinces are often bitten by venomous snakes. As a result, the Herbal Medicine Centre of Military Zone 9 has officially begun offering free-of-charge first aid treatment for patients attacked by snakes since March 1, 2006.

In cooperation with the Nha Trang Vaccine Institute, the centre has succeeded in producing an antidote for snake poison. It has given first aid this year to 235 patients and helped them fully recover. It helped 600 individuals last year.

In the past 5 years, all cases of snake bites, first-aid and emergency have been carried out by the centre without any fatalities.
