PANO - All military schools and academies held ceremonies to start the 2016-2017 academic year on the morning of September 15.

Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, attended the ceremony at Army Officer Training School No. 1.

Addressing the ceremony, General Giang acknowledged the college's achievements in education and training over the past academic year. For the 2016-2017 academic year's missions, he asked the school's chain of command and Party committee to closely follow resolutions of the 12th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 10th Military Party Congress, and the school's Party Congress while encouraging  its teachers, cadets and troops to work hard right from the beginning of the new school year.

Having hailed the Military Medical University's results over the past time, Deputy Defense Minister, Lt. Gen. Tran Don expressed his hope that the school's troops and workers would continue bringing into play their strengths, promoting solidarity and creativeness, and implementing appropriate measures to resolve its weaknesses, with the aim to obtain more achievements in the new academic year. In addition, he urged them to expand relations with other military and civilian units at home and abroad, to improve the quality of training and education, scientific research and health services.

Attending the event at the Military Technical Academy, Deputy Defense Minister, Sen. Lt. Gen. Be Xuan Truong praised the school's efforts in the past academic year, adding that they should conduct and accomplish more State- and ministry-level scientific research projects during the current academic year, contributing to better and more efficiently providing technical supports and services for units in the whole army.

Joining the opening ceremony of the 2016-2017 school year of the Political University, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, asked the university's commanders and troops to implement good teaching and training methods, flexibly apply guidelines and resolutions of the Party, State and Army into education and training activities, making contribution to their task fulfillment in the time to come.

In his remarks at the ceremony to open the new academic year of the Military Science Academy, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, urged the lecturers, military students and cadets of the academy to heighten the sense of responsibility and determination to achieve all the set objectives.

Deputy chiefs of the General Staff, including Sen. Lt. Gen. Vo Van Tuan, Vice Admiral Pham Ngoc Minh, and Lt. Gen. Pham Hong Huong attended the opening ceremonies of the 2016-2017 academic year of the Air Defense and Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy and the Chemical Prevention Officer Training School, respectively, and congratulated teachers and students on this occasion.
