A moment of silence in tribute to the donor |
The donor was N.T.T. (born in 1975 from Ho Chi Minh City). He was diagnosed with brain death due to a massive hemorrhagic stroke, with severe cerebral edema complications. In this situation, his family made a noble decision to donate his organs to save other patients.
With professional support from the National Coordinating Center for Human Organ Transplantation and leading hospitals, such as the Military Central Hospital 108 (which is currently transferring organ transplant techniques to Military Hospital 175), Hue Central Hospital, and Children's Hospital No.2, the entire professional process, including brain death confirmation, consultations, legal documents, organ retrieval was carried out in a prompt and strict manner, in compliance with legal regulations.
Earlier on April 7, nearly 100 doctors, nurses, and technicians carried out the organ procurement and transplantation procedures.
After a moment of silence, the medical team successfully retrieved two kidneys, a liver (which was split into two lobes), a heart, and two corneas.
Notably, this marks the first time that Military Hospital 175 has jointly conducted organ retrieval and directly performed a kidney transplant from a brain-dead donor.

The surgery is carried out urgently, ensuring that the organs from the donor are retrieved in a timely manner and transported for patients in need. |
Director of Military Hospital 175, Major General Tran Quoc Viet affirmed that this achievement demonstrated the hospital staff’s capabilities and marked a breakthrough in the hospital’s development, positioning Military Hospital 175 as one of the capable medical institutions in the southern region to implement a comprehensive organ transplant model, offering life-saving opportunities for many patients.
He also underlined that the hospital will continue to strengthen dissemination and education among the community about the noble act of donating organs after brain death.
