PANO - The General Department of Politics held a conference on March 9th to sum up major cultural, literary, artistic, and press activities in the military over the past five years (2011-2015) to evaluate the military cultural, literary, artistic, and press work in the past five years and outline orientations for the next five years.
Addressing the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics, stressed that in the past five years a number of new features emerged in the cultural, literary and artistic work and press activities in the military.

Artists and writers have followed up steps of soldiers in their daily life and created valuable works. Cultural, literary, artistic, and press activities as well as campaigns have always been closely directed by the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence, and the General Department of Politics in a timely manner with practical and effective support from relevant agencies.
Many cultural, literary, artistic and press activities in the military have had far-reaching influence, not only pervasive across the army, but also attractive to people of all walks of life.
Particularly, in the period of 2011-2015, ten literature composing camps were held with the participation of more than 400 writers, resulting in more than 500 poems, 125 short stories and articles of various subjects. Meanwhile, three music composing camps on the topics of armed forces and revolutionary wars and five music composing campaigns were launched, bringing to life 334 songs, ten chorals, and three symphonies…
In terms of fine arts, artists joining four art composing camps and fact-finding tours to units and agencies composed 495 paintings and sculpture works. Also during this period, 11 play scripts, 31 Cheo (popular opera), 32 choreographic works were made.
Concluding the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia stressed that the quality of artists and journalists should be further improved, for this is the decisive factor to the quality of literary, art and press works. Writers, artists and journalists should stay more close to the real life of soldiers in order to create more valuable works with far-reaching impact on the society.
On the basis of the results achieved in the past five years, the cultural, literary, artistic, and press key activities in the next five years will continue to make progress and earn achievements, resulting in high-quality works, meeting the expectation of the military and public.
At the conference, the organizers awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Defence Minister to nine groups and three individuals with high-quality works on the topic “Learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh” and Certificate of Merit of the Chief of the General Department of Politics to 42 groups and 50 individuals with achievements in key composing activities and campaigns. |
