PANO - The Steering Committee (Steering Committee 50) for the “Good management and durable, safe and economical use of technical equipment and weapons” Campaign (Campaign 50) on January 14th met to evaluate the campaign’s implementation in 2015 and work out missions for 2016. Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh, Deputy Defence Minister, attended the session.
Last year, the Steering Committee directed units and realised the contents of Campaign 50 bringing about good results. Steering committee 50 at different levels gave advice and proposed measures to chains-of-command at their levels and units in the whole army in a timely fashion. This ensured the quality and effectiveness of the campaign in all four of its goals.

To be more exact, 100% of the equipment and weapons were strictly managed and shortcomings were reduced. 91 refresher, regular, and in-service training courses were organised for more than 131,000 trainees. Equipment and weapons were well maintained for regular and unscheduled tasks. 30 investment projects were implemented, contributing to improving the effectiveness of technical assurance and more focus was put on ensuring safety in general and traffic safety in particular in all criteria.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh praised the results of the Steering Committee, relevant agencies and units. The deputy minister stressed that this year, the whole army is to continue to promote the implementation of Campaign 50, enhance the effectiveness of steering committees at all levels, and raise the quality of the technical service and maintenance to meet the requirements of military and defence missions.
