Reports delivered at the meeting affirmed that last month, under the direction of the GS, the whole military successfully completed both regular and unexpected tasks. Notably, agencies and units strictly maintained combat readiness; closely followed and accurately assessed the situational development and made timely recommendations to effectively handle circumstances in a timely and effective manner, thus firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity; well coordinated to maintain security and order in localities across the country and at important events of the Party, State, and the military.

Concluding the event, Gen. Cuong lauded agencies and units in the whole military for their achievements in carrying out military and defense missions.

Regarding tasks in April and the coming time, the GS’s Chief asked the whole military to strictly observe combat readiness regulations; closely follow the development of situations, especially in key localities, in the East Sea, border areas, and Southwestern waters, to make timely recommendations to effectively handle issues; coordinate with police force to maintain security in localities across the country, especially during the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and the International Workers’ Day; strengthen patrols and inspections to prevent illegal border exit and entry.

Gen. Cuong urged forces to boost information dissemination; prevent foreign ships from encroaching on Vietnam’s waters; protect maritime economic activities; apply measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and ensure flight safety; continue to implement the streamlining the military; ensure adequate supplies of weapons and equipment for the parade at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

He emphasized the need to ensure absolute safety for forces participating in the parade; organize training as planned; pro-actively follow situation to give timely advice to effectively deal with circumstances.
