GS reviews task performance in March

Reports delivered at the event revealed that in March the GS directed the whole military to well implement assigned missions. Notably, agencies and units strictly maintained combat readiness, closely followed situational developments, made recommendations to higher levels to deal with circumstances in a timely manner to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territory. They also coordinated to ensure security in localities across the country and at important events.

In the month, the whole military kicked off the training season as planned, creating an exciting emulation atmosphere from the first day and month of training. Together with closely implementing the adjustment of force organization and maintaining weapons and equipment, agencies and units promptly mobilized forces and vehicles to respond to natural disasters and carry out search and rescue missions.

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong lauded achievements obtained by agencies and units over the past time. He asked the whole military to strictly observe duty and combat readiness regulations and closely follow developments of situations, especially in key areas, border areas, the mainland, airspace, and waters; strengthen patrol and management to prevent illegal border crossings; foster information dissemination and prevent foreign ships from encroaching on Vietnam’s waters and ensure security for Vietnam’s maritime economic activities.

He urged agencies and units to take measures to prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; cooperate with the public security force to ensure security and safety at important political events of the country; provide timely advice to higher levels to effectively handle situations.

An overview of the meeting

Apart from seriously actualizing plans and resolutions on streamlining the Vietnam People’s Army in the 2021-2030 period and the years to come, the GS will direct agencies and units to hold training for forces. The whole military should grasp and strictly observe the State’s law and military discipline; stand ready to conduct to search and rescue operations; work with functional agencies to complete the draft Law on Civil Defense; effectively hold search and rescue drills.
