Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, attended and spoke at the event.

As part of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, more than 5,000 members of the Youth Union Chapter of the General Staff are working in different fields. Generations of youths of the General Staff have effectively promoted the glorious tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and been vanguard in all aspects, especially in carrying out difficult tasks.  

In the new period, the General Staff’s youths have well performed the functions of combat, work and production and been determined to protect independence and national sovereignty; helped local people respond to natural disasters and diseases, especially in COVID-19 pandemic; actively participated in poverty reduction and hunger elimination, socio-economic development, contributing to the development of the military and the country.

In addition, they have enthusiastically participated and obtained achievements in scientific research, combat readiness training, high-achievement sports, production, training and education, and services. 

For their achievements in 2022, many collectives and individuals of the General Staff were honored with certificates and different awards, including the “Outstanding Young Faces in the Military” and “Creative Youths in the Military.” 

Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan acknowledged and praised youths of the General Staff for their achievements over the past time. He asked Youth Union organizations and individuals to continue to renew methods to raise the effectiveness and practicality of activities; bring into play the tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; strive to be “pure in heart, quick in mind, and high in aspiration” to contribute to successfully fulfilling assigned political missions and enriching the tradition of the General Staff.

Outstanding individuals honored at the event 

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff asked the Party Committee, Chains-of-Command, political agencies and officers of agencies and units to create favorable conditions for Youth Union organizations to develop. 

At the event, Senior Captain Ngo Quan Tung, from the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, expressed the honor to be acknowledged by leaders. He said that the award was a source of encouragement for him and others to continue to stay united and make more contribution.
