The event was attended by Deputy Chiefs of the GS Member of the Party Central Committee Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, and Major General Pham Truong Son, and delegates of the GS’s affiliated units.
Briefed upon the GS’s achievements, Gen. Cuong hailed its remarkable efforts in all fields. Especially, the troops actively grasped situations, ensured combat readiness, made recommendations to the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense to address any arising issues, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty. In addition, the GS also directed affiliated units to organize training and exercises as planned with good quality, held the ASEAN Army Men’s Volleyball Tournament 2023, to name but a few.
It also mobilized troops to respond to natural disasters and search and rescue missions, while working with relevant forces to ensure social order and security, and safety for important events of the country.
Regarding task orientations in the coming time, the GS Chief requested the unit to direct units in the whole military to continue to strictly maintain combat readiness and be ready in any circumstances, conduct patrols to prevent illegal border crossings, promote dissemination work to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Besides, the unit should make good preparation to organize sports and volleyball festival in the whole military this year, participate in the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) in 2023 held in Thailand with absolute safety. It was also asked to raise its capability of responding to natural disasters and implementing search and rescue missions, and actively carry out defense external affairs, among others.
The GS Chief noted that functional units should develop plans to build the comprehensively strong, “exemplary and typical” unit. There are many important tasks in this November which are decisive factors of their task performance in the whole year; therefore, the GS’s leaders should direct affiliated units in the whole military to well fulfill all set targets.
