PANO - Nearly 50 former Truong Son female soldiers gathered in a traditional meeting on August 19 in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2).

Participants enjoyed a cultural-artistic exchange and reminisced about the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and Truong Son soldiers as well as emphasized the image of Truong Son female soldiers in the resistance war against foreign invaders.

Those female soldiers have been good examples for the young generation in daily life and in implementing the Party and the State’s guidelines while actively participating in patriotic movements in their localities and pioneering the movement of building new rural areas and bringing new cultural life to residential areas.

The same day, the 50th anniversary of Sai Gon-Gia Dinh Volunteer Youths Team 198 (August 19, 1965/2015) was celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of members from the Former Volunteer Youths Association and Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Chapter.

The Sai Gon-Gia Dinh Volunteer Youths Team 198, whose predecessor was the Volunteer Youths Company 100, was directly involved in 16 battles during the anti-American resistance war for national salvation. Additionally, it joined other units in 252 different battles throughout the Southeastern region. It also transported more than 3,500 tonnes of ammunition, built 2 field hospitals, 664 trenches serving as operation rooms, over 1,500 fortifications and carried more than 2,300 injured soldiers back to the rear.

With its outstanding feats of arms, the team was conferred with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces by the State.
