Vietnam’s Military Region 4 and Lao units and localities work out cooperative tasks
PANO - On June 17, the Military Region 4 (MR4) Command of Vietnam and Lao military units convened a meeting to review cooperation results achieved in 2025 and the first six months of 2026, while identifying objectives and measures for implementing cooperative tasks in the rest of the year.
Since 2025, the Military Region 4 Command has directed its affiliates to closely coordinate with units and local authorities from Laos in regularly monitoring and exchanging information, conducting joint patrols, handling emerging situations, and maintaining security and stability in border areas.

The two sides have also promoted exchanges and cooperation in economy, socio-culture, defense, security, and delegation exchanges, while assisting Lao units and localities in strengthening grassroots political systems at all levels.
Notably, both sides have effectively implemented a number of infrastructure projects and development models aimed at supporting local communities in project areas, promoting socio-economic development, improving material and spiritual living standards of local residents, strengthening defense and security, and contributing to building a stable Vietnam - Laos shared border.

Also at the event, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement. Accordingly, the Military Region 4 Command will direct its affiliated units to assist Lao counterparts in implementing cooperation programs in a focused and effective manner; strengthen defense and security postures; efficiently carry out projects, sub-projects, and agricultural extension models to create jobs and increase incomes for people in project areas; and coordinate in providing information and facilitating the operations of Military Region 4’s teams tasked with searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers under the 500-day campaign to accelerate the search, collection, and identification of martyrs’ remains.
