General Nguyen Quyet is a former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the State Council, former member of the Standing Board of the Central Military Party Committee (now the Central Military Commission), and former Director of the GDP.
General Nguyen Quyet, whose real name is Nguyen Tien Van, was born in 1922 in Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province, and joined the revolution in 1939. Throughout his revolutionary career, he held various positions and embodied the highest qualities and virtues of a steadfast communist. General Nguyen Quyet was a talented, strategic military leader with sharp political acumen. He was also a virtuous leader, who devoted his life to the people and the country, reserved deep love for his comrades, and always set a good example of a military general.
In addition to his rich practical activities, throughout his revolutionary life, the General has left behind many valuable theoretical works and practical summaries. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the cause of national liberation, reunification, and defense, the Party and State have honored General Nguyen Quyet with numerous noble rewards, including the Gold Star and the Ho Chi Minh Orders, among others.

During the visit, the GDP’s deputy chief Le Quang Minh wished General Nguyen Quyet good health and longevity and expressed the hope that with his wealth of experience, General Quyet would continue to contribute to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the ongoing development of a revolutionary, regular, elite, and gradually modernized military.
During the conversation, Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh Minh briefed General Quyet on some recent achievements of the military and party and political work over the past time. He highlighted that party and political activities have closely followed the situation and tasks of the military, particularly the key missions identified by the Central Military Commission.

General Nguyen Quyet highly appreciated the recent achievements of the party and political work in the military and hoped that the GDP would continue to well carry out its advisory role for the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense and direct the whole military to fulfill assigned missions.
