General Nguyen Quyet (real name Nguyen Tien Van), is the former member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, former Vice Chairman of the State Council (now Vice State President), former Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army. He was born in 1922 in Chinh Nghia commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province. Having worked in many positions until his retirement at the age of 70, General Nguyen Quyet has made remarkable contribution to the cause of national liberation, construction and protection. For his outstanding contribution, the Party and State has conferred him with many noble awards, such as the Gold Star Order, Ho Chi Minh Order, First-class Military Exploit Order, First-class Feat-of-Arms Order, First-class Victory Order, First-class Anti-American Resistance War Order, 80-year Party membership badge, and many other noble medals, badges and titles
