GDP leader attends Whole-military Skilled Mechanic Competition
PANO – The General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) held a ceremony on August 4 to kick off the sixth whole military skilled mechanic competition in 2026 at Factory Z129.
GDP Deputy Chief Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh attended the event.
The sixth competition features innovations in both content and organization. Notably, CNC turning and CNC milling have been added to the contest, while the theoretical part has been converted into a multiple-choice format with a streamlined question bank. These updates integrate scientific and technological achievements into skill assessments, ensuring alignment with production realities and the development demands of the defense industry.

The competition brings together 109 contestants from 16 major units under the Ministry of National Defense, competing in both theoretical and practical exams across six trades: turning, milling, welding, fitting, CNC turning, and CNC milling.
Delivering the opening speech, Gen. Minh emphasized that the competition is a practical and meaningful activity, reaffirming the deep concern of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the GPD for building a strong workforce of technical workers. This is not only an occasion to assess the true skill levels and technological mastery of mechanical workers, but also a platform for military units to exchange, share experience, update knowledge, and access new technologies.
