Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has assigned four new Deputy Ministers of National Defence.

The appointees include Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Le Chiem and Be Xuan Truong, both of whom are Lieutenant Generals.

The other two newly-assigned deputy ministers are Lt. Gen. Vo Trong Viet, Border Guard Commander, and Lt. Gen. Tran Don, Commander of Military Region 7.

The newly-accredited deputy ministers are also members of the Central Party Committee.

The incumbent Minister of National Defence is General Phung Quang Thanh. His deputies include Senior Lieutenant Generals Do Ba Ty, Nguyen Thanh Cung, Truong Quang Khanh, Nguyen Chi Vinh, Le Huu Duc and Nguyen Van Hien.
