PANO – The Navy on August 1st held a flag raising ceremony for two submarines, 184-Hai Phong and 185-Khanh Hoa, at Naval Brigade 189.
Addressing the ceremony, Rear Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, the Navy’s Commander, stressed that the official assignment of the two submarines of the 636 Varshavyanka (Kilo)-class to Naval Brigade 189 is a significant step marking a breakthrough in building a modern navy in particular and a modern army in general.
He asked the naval troops on the two submarines to thoroughly grasp the noble values of the national sea and islands as well as the importance of peace and stability to the national construction and defence cause.
On the occasion, the people’s party committees, people’s councils, and people’s committees of Khanh Hoa province and Hai Phong city granted VND 700 million to each submarine and VND 600 million to Naval Brigade 189.
