At the event, delegates reviewed the seven–decade history of building, combat, and development of Division 312. With its excellent accomplishments during its history, the unit was honored with the Ho Chi Minh Order, the second-class Military Exploit Order three times, the third-class Military Exploit Order nine times, and the Feat of Arms Order 51 times. Thousands of its sub-units and troops also received noble orders, medals and awards. Attentively, on January 15, 1976, Division 312 was honorably presented with the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” by the Party and State.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang congratulated and applauded the division for their great achievements and development over the past 70 years.
He asked the unit’s Party committee and leaders to embrace and seriously realize resolutions and directives on military-defense missions issued by the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense. They should also focus their attention on education of politics, ideology and its historical tradition, build a firm political stance and raise troops’ sense of responsibility so that they can overcome all difficulties and complete all assignments.

The deputy defense minister also urged the unit’s chains-of-command to lead the restructuring of its personnel organization, building a revolutionary, standardized, elite, and gradually modernized division while improving the quality of training and exercises with absolute safety and ensuring logistic, financial and technical services for all sub-units to implement missions.
Other missions that the unit should pay due attention to include bettering the realization of policies for troops’ families, actively supporting locals in disaster response and disease prevention and control, taking on search and rescue missions, and building a comprehensively-strong division with synergy and a high combat readiness capacity.
Authorized by the State President, General Giang handed the third-class Military Exploit Order to the division in recognition of the unit’s outstanding achievements in implementing defense-military and military-building tasks over the past time.
