PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, leading a Defence Ministry mission on June 5th inspected the Coast Guard Region 4 under the Coast Guard High Command.

Despite numerous difficulties, the unit could still fulfill the enforcement of Vietnamese law and international treaties in the national southwestern waters. Attentively, since 2013, it has broken 15 smuggling cases involving 17 ships and seized a large volume of timber, diesel oil and foreign cigarettes, totally valued at VND 70 billions.
Having checked the coast guard ship numbered 2003 and the coast guards’ living and eating condition, general Cung hailed the unit for surmounting difficulties to consolidate unity among unit’s members and effectively fight against smuggling and trade fraud.
The general reminded the unit to work closely with the local authorities to keep up with developments in the managed waters and to be active in dealing with any unexpected situations; promote production and build a pure and strong party cell and a strong unit.
