At the event, representatives of the steering committee briefed delegates on the developments of the pandemic in several major areas. Reportedly, the Military Medical University, Military Hospital 175 and Military Hospital 7A of Military Region 7 mobilized hundreds of medical personnel while the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center sent mobile testing vehicles to assist local authorities in collecting COVID-19 test samples.

Speaking at the conference, Lt. Gen. Vu Hai San spoke highly of the efforts of units and relevant agencies in COVID-19 prevention and control. He said that the Ministry of National Defense directed the Chemical Corps to mobilize over 20 vehicles to spray disinfectants in pandemic-hit areas and ordered affiliated units to establish 150 testing teams and prepare 50 concentrated quarantine zones.

He agreed with the plan of shifting the Eastern Military-Civilian Hospital to a hospital for infectious diseases to treat COVID-19 patients. He urged the General Department of Logistics to work with Military Regions 7 and 9 to put the fifth and sixth field hospitals for infectious diseases into operation when they are needed.

Representatives of the General Department of Logistics briefed delegates on their preparation for the launching ceremony of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign on July 10. The ceremony will be held at the defense ministry’s headquarters and connect to 63 provinces and cities and seven military regions across the country via video conference.
